Equality & Diversity Policy
Our commitment to treating everyone fairly and making everyone feel welcome.
At Brightline Youth Support, everyone is welcome. We believe every young person leaving care deserves the same chances in life, whatever their background.
Our commitment
We will not treat anyone unfairly because of who they are. The Equality Act 2010 protects people from discrimination because of:
- age
- disability
- gender reassignment
- marriage and civil partnership
- pregnancy and maternity
- race, including colour, nationality and ethnic background
- religion or belief
- sex
- sexual orientation
We also recognise that care-experienced young people often face unfair treatment and stigma, and we work to challenge it.
What this means in practice
- We make our sessions welcoming, respectful and safe for everyone.
- We make reasonable changes so disabled young people and those with additional needs can take part fully.
- We use examples and materials that reflect different cultures, faiths, family types and life experiences.
- We respect people’s names and pronouns.
- We agree group rules with young people, and we challenge bullying, harassment or discriminatory language straight away.
- We make decisions about who we work with fairly.
- We ask young people for feedback and use it to make the programme better for everyone.
If something goes wrong
If you feel you have been treated unfairly, please tell us. You can use our Complaints Policy, and we will take it seriously.
